For over 40 years, Oracle Corporation has been operating at the bleeding edge of computer technology. The company specializes in developing and marketing database software and technology and enterprise software products. In 2015, Oracle was named by PWC as the second largest software maker by revenue. In April 2016, Oracle announced that it had opened a six-month Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator program in Singapore. The program has an especial focus on reimagining enterprise innovation through collaborations with start-ups that foster co-development and co-innovation.
The program will be run by members of the Oracle research and development team and will provide six months of mentoring from various technical and business experts. In explaining why Singapore was chosen as a destination for Oracle to develop blossoming start-ups, Sanket Atal, Group Vice President of Research and Development, said, ‘Singapore has a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem and [Oracle] received a brilliant response from the community’. Indeed, with the government’s initiative to develop small and medium-sized enterprises through enabling digitalization and increasing funding, it is clear that Singapore is an increasingly attractive place for accelerators to grow the next Airbnb and Uber.
Last month, Oracle finalized the inaugural class of six start-up participants as selected from hundreds of applicants. These start-ups were chosen on the basis of their ability to leverage new technology solutions across industries such as retail, recruitment and finance. They will have access to technical and business mentoring by Oracle and industry experts, state-of-the-art technology with free Oracle Cloud credits and full access to a co-working space within Oracle’s premises as well as access to Oracle’s vast global ecosystem of start-up peers, customers, investors and partners.
On this note, we are exhilarated to announce that FOMO Pay was named as one of the six start-ups selected by Oracle. Being given the chance to leverage on Oracle’s vast resources presents an incredible opportunity for us and we are confident that we will be able to successfully harness the expertise and connections that Oracle commands in the industry.
